Ain't nothing but the real thing

So, I’m sitting at my desk at work this morning, I grab my 20-ounce bottle of Diet Coke, and I take a swig. Then I stop and say to myself, “Wait a minute, I brought a can with me today, not a bottle. That’s weird.” But then I look to the left side of my computer and there sits a can. I pick it up. It’s nearly full. Hmmmm. The bottle is cold. The can is cold. What on earth is going on?

First of all, I must have a bit of drinking problem. A bottle and a can at the same time? Seriously. There must be something wrong with me if I manage to have two drinks open at once . . .

And second, I must have a great coworker. You see, it wasn’t particularly a good day at work today; a couple of major things went awry. And they were the kind of things that make you feel that perhaps you should look for a new job because you’re not quite qualified for your current one. But my coworker, seeing that I was nearing an emotional breakdown, went to the vending machine, bought a cold Diet Coke, and left it on my desk. I didn’t see her do it. But does she know me well or what?

And her thoughtfulness made a big difference. Thanks, Jaimi.

Aw, shucks.

She did give it to you, right? You didn't just start drinking her drink, and then she gave it to you because...what the heck...she's drinking it anyway?!

Not to make you worry or anything. :-)

I'm sorry you had a such a rough day. You ARE qualified for your job- don't ever think otherwise!

Perhaps it would make you feel better if I ran through all the mistakes I've made on catalogs over the years? Yikes. It is soooo par for the course and soooo not your fault. Enjoy your weekend! You rock!

So sorry, Lisa. I have bad days at work too for sure! and no question you aren't qualified for your job! Just think, the next day is always better. Or we can hope.

For sure, Lisa...give any of us five minutes, and we can detail major "fails" we have personally caused, or our departments we're responsible for have caused (Seasons Geetings, anyone? I don't care what anyone says, GIGANTIC fail on my team's part). You rock, so don't take it too personally!
